Embarrassment.

When I'm asleep, dreams have a crazy affect on my body.
That sounds weird, so let me explain!
If I get hurt in a dream, I feel it bigtime and usually I wake up having shed a few tears.
If something in a dream makes me happy, I wake up smiling.
If I get in an argument with someone in my dream, I'm extra irritable with them all day.

So it makes sense that if I get embarrassed in a dream then my palms will sweat and my face will feel hot.

So here's what happened.
I was taking a public speaking/tap class at BYU.
[I should have known this couldn't be real. The first hour you tap, the second hour you speak... weird.]

We had competitions too.
At one of our competitions, one of our competitors gave their speeches while tapping.
It was amazing, so obviously our tapspeech team would have some practicing to do.

On our first day back from our competition, we showed up to class ready to work.
I was wearing velvet black stretchy pants and a greenish yellow thick turtle neck.
When I heard that we were going to tap and speak at the same time, I was so ready.
I was definitely the best tapper in the class and by far the best speaker as well.

There were a few people in my class that I recognized [Nikki Mendenhall, Camille Lucero, and Reesa Tirrell], but I didn't recognize anyone else. However, I did know them.

And actually Camille's name wasn't Camille in my dream... It was Sandra. Sandra Bullock.
Weird, huh!

Our teacher collected our cell phones at the beginning of class to avoid distraction, then we were given a topic in our groups of four and we were assigned to.
Camille/Sandra, Nikki, Reesa, and myself were assigned to speak on a special car.
The speech was only supposed to be a few lines, and we had to make up a few simple tap steps to go along with our speech.

We wrote this simple speech.
"Sandra Bullock's car is the most beautiful of all the cars. We all love it very much. It has five seats and we like to drive it everywhere."
We decided that since I was the best speaker, I would have a few extra lines to say after we finished saying this.
I don't remember what those lines were.
We also decided that we needed to be better than the rest of our class, so not only were we going to sing our speech in three part harmony, but we were also going to say it in Spanish.

[Author's note: I don't speak any Spanish at all, but subconsciously I did translate this speech into Spanish, except I didn't understand what I was saying... And I don't think the translation was correct.]

We practiced for maybe thirty seconds before our teacher came around to see how our work was going and let us know that we would perform first in the class. We asked if we could practice it for her and she said yes. We began to sing our speech. Everyone in the class went silent and watched us. We hadn't written the tap yet, so we were just sitting in chairs. I was hardly singing at all because I couldn't remember the Spanish. Every time I would open my mouth, I would start singing Chinese. People kept giving me weird looks. It was literally the longest 30 seconds of my life. Well then it came time for my solo. I just stared blankly, while my face turned red. I looked at Nikki for a hint. She just smiled. Then I said "line." She gave me the first word only. That didn't spark my memory. I asked her to just tell me what to say. She said this was something I needed to do on my own. I felt so abandoned, and everyone was still staring. I started to cry, but really I had no idea why I was crying, because this really wasn't that bad. Except in dream world, it really was that bad. I was so hot and sweaty from embarrassment, and on top of that I finally realized that the turtle neck wasn't the best thing to be wearing at the moment. It made me even hotter and a bit claustrophobic. I jumped out of my chair and ran away from embarrassment.

That's when I woke up.
I know this seems silly,
but I was REALLY embarrassed.
I still can't remember my line.
Good thing it was just a dream:)

California Dreamin! [part 2]

The time has come for me to finish writing about my trip.
Like I said, when we came home on Saturday we all just crashed in our beds.
My legs were super sore from playing soccer and I had a killer sunburn due to my lack of responsibility. My arms hadn't gotten burned, but my face was pretty red and the back of my legs were RIDICULOUS!

The next day was Sunday. The singles ward met at 1:30 so we all lazily woke up in the morning whenever our heart desired. I woke up at nine because my internal clock is set for 8:30 church.
After moseying around for a bit, I went to shower.
Before I showered I put in my contacts.
When I made it to the shower, I realized that my left eye still couldn't see.
I checked in the mirror and realized that I had missed my eye completely!
I ran back to the other bathroom but couldn't find my contact anywhere.
In case you're thinking this is the most useless story of your life right now, let me tell you how big of a deal this is.
I've been wearing the same pair of contacts since December because I have no more pairs. My optometrist also won't send me any new contacts until I get my prescription updated.. which I have to do in Virginia. I'm clearly not in Virginia.
I also can't just wear my glasses to the beach because they would get ruined and sandy and that would be awful.
I took out my other contact and showered blind.
MY BURN HURT SO BAD!
But I lived.
After my shower I found my contact crumpled up somewhere around the sink. It had started to dry out so I let it soak in solution for the next little few minutes while I worked on my Chinese homework.

That story was a complete waste of time.
haha:)

Church was fantastic. We only went to the first hour, but it was seriously good. The singles ward there was pretty big. After church we walked around the temple for a bit. The stake center there is right across the parking lot from the beautiful Redlands Temple.

When we got home, we helped Momma Misken prepare dinner. We were having Cafe Rio Style Burritos!

I was clearly super excited, but also SUPER HUNGRY!

When they were ready we all stuffed our faces big time!
I ATE FOUR BURRITOS!
And the whole time I ate, all I could think was:
"This is the best burrito, I've ever eaten. YUM YUM YUM!!"

After our meal, Tyler convinced us to watch his "favorite movie."
We settled down in the living room for what turned out to be the second worst acting I've ever seen. (Second to the Twilight Saga). The movie was good though and had a great message.

There were move people that joined in during the movie. After the crowd died off this group somehow morphed into a beauty parlor/massage line where we had some MAJOR girl bonding time!

We all sat and talked for well over an hour.
And it was perfect.

Later that evening, we had a group scripture study lead by Papa Misken.
We talked about how honor is power and how the adversary tries to take away our honor.
The spirit was very strong and the discussion was extremely uplifting.
I LOVE THE CHURCH!

We played games for the next hour until the people staying at Cooper's house left and we all went to bed.

The next morning we met at nine, packed all of our stuff and headed off to Newport beach.
First of course, we stopped at the H&M at Tyler Mall. I got new shoes, a new shirt, and the perfect new dress!

We only stayed for a few hours because we needed to drive back to Provo, but while we were there I got to walk along the beach with two of the most amazing girls of my life!
We were the only people there in modest swim suits so we stuck out like a soar thumb.
HOWEVER, we were definitely the most beautiful:)

We played some volley ball also and laid out on our towels. I put sun screen on my face, but thats it. When we left, my legs were fine, but my shoulders had gotten really burnt. And somehow my nose got burnt again, and much worse this time.

We headed out around 4:30pm. By the time we had changed and stopped by In & Out again, we were on the road back to Provo by 5:30pm.

This was the exit crew!
In my car we had myself, Andrea, Ashley and Ashley. I just met the Ashleys on this trip and we are already completely obsessed with each other!

While we drove home a small red sports car from Nebraska pulled up next to us. They rolled down the window and yelled out to us asking if we drove all the way from Virginia to California. I told them that I had stopped in Utah for eight months to go to school.

That was it.

Or so we thought.

About five minutes later, they caught up to us again and rolled down their windows. They asked where we were headed. I told them Provo, Utah. They asked if we wanted to stop and hang out in Vegas with them. I said I couldn't because I had work the next day. After a bit more convincing, I still declined and they drove off.
We laughed so hard!

When we reached Vegas it was time to stop for gas. We refilled and were just about to head out again, this time with Ashley driving. None of us felt like driving in the middle of the night was a good idea. Luckily, Ashley's mom called and said we could stay at her grandparents winter home in St. George. We made it the next couple of hours and stopped there for the night.

Andrea drove the rest of the way home in the morning and we made it back just in time to get ready for work and get back into my Provo routine.

The trip was FANTASTIC!
I couldn't have asked for a better weekend and a better group of people to go with.
I have been officially converted to being a lover of California and I wish I could afford to go back EVERY WEEKEND!

The end:)

California Dreamin! [part 1]

So it's been kind of a while since I got back from Cali.
And by that I mean its been just about a week.
I think this means I'm way over due.

Thus begins the post in which I tell you how incredibly amazing the left coast is!

The plans have been in the making for quite awhile now.
It all began the beginning of May when a couple friends and I threw the idea of a road trip to Cali around. Who would have ever thought this would ACTUALLY happen?!
I am quite pleased that it did.

With memorial day weekend nigh, the plans came together perfectly. There was a group of 15 people (mostly from the ward) that planned to drive down in three cars, spend the weekend nights in Yucaipa at the Miskin and Cooper homes, and spend the weekend days lounging on the beach and having the best time of our lives!

Two of the cars left early. 4:00 in the morning!
My car left quite a bit later because two of us had class, one of us didn't want to wake up, one of us had work, and the last person had a girlfriend who had class and would prefer to drive with her rather than anyone else.

Of course I didn't start packing until two hours before we had to leave. I went to class from 8:00-10:00, came home, showered, folded my laundry, cleaned my car, packed and ate brunch [because i didn't wake up early enough for breakfast] all in two hours!
HOLY RUSHER MICRUSSIAN!
(please note the play on words).
I was ready to peace out at noon.
But of course, we had some stragglers so we didn't leave until 1:30pm.
Such is life.
We loaded up the car and were on our way straight to the coastline!

I drove the first 6 hours.
NOT STRAIGHT OF COURSE!
We made it to St. George in record time!
3hours.
[don't tell mom].
And we stopped to dine at our favorite fat I mean fast food restaurant...

IN&OUT!

After we sufficiently stuffed our faces, we jumped back in the car and drove off again.
I drove this next leg of the race as well.
Next stop?
LAS VEGAS!
[only long enough to get gas, but Vegas none the less].

Post St. George, we soon entered the BEAUTIFUL Virgin River Valley.
Then passed right into Arizona!

This just so happens to be the land of my beautiful mother!
I called her immediately and left a message saying that I had returned to the motherland!

Just about now, the post meal hump hit the rest of the car and they all fell asleep while I jammed along to the radio.

And thus we carried on.
We had one minor set back around 6:00pm that lasted about 45 minutes.
I won't say what it was about, but I'll give you a hint.
His name was Officer Frabbeile.

No worries though, all is well on the Western front.
We made it safely to Vegas and filled the car with Gas.
Then my dear roommate, Andrea, drove.

Thank goodness for her!
I fell asleep right when we got back in the car and slept for the next two hours!
By the time I woke up I got to watch the sun set IN CALIFORNIA!

We made it safely to the Miskin house around 10:30pm and stuffed our faces with homemade black bean soup and homemade bread...
WHICH WAS FANTASTIC!

Then we all passed out on our respective beds/air mattresses/couches.

The next morning we slept in until 9:00 (which is a lot considering that I usually have to wake up at 7:00). Those of us who stayed at the Miskin home helped momma Miskin with breakfast. We made pancakes and I squeezed orange juice using the freshly picked oranges, which by the way ARE WAY BETTER THAN ANY ORANGES I'VE HAD IN MY WHOLE LIFE!

Around noon we loaded up in two big vans and headed off to Huntington Beach.
I literally screamed when I saw the Pacific Ocean for the first time.
IT WAS SO HUGE!

We claimed a fire pit then laid the rest of our stuff out much closer to the ocean. Half the crew got right to the water, but I chose to lay out with some of the other girls and work on my soon to be stellar fab tan in my new swim suit!

I made sure to take a picture on my phone to send to my mom!

This is Carolina, Reesa, and I just before we laid down and all fell asleep!

I didn't lay out all day though. I ran into the water once!
When I came out I realized my legs were burned and Andrea had the privilege of rubbing sun screen all over my legs. Lets face it. That was the highlight of her weekend.
Then after I was sufficiently dry I ran away and threw a frisbee around with Cooper and Aaron. It was getting a bit later in the day and most people were hungry so a big crew ran off to get food while a few of us stayed back to play volleyball with some of Aaron's friends.
The highlight of my day, however, was the killer intense game of soccer that we played in the sand. All of our legs were killer sore after and my feet were big time cut up, but it was AMAZINGLY fun! Aaron and I made up a tripping game where you use only your legs to trip the other person. He mostly won because he's super tall, but I like to think I was a good competitor.

Eventually we all fell over and sat in the sand for awhile before the second round of volleyball.

The two girls in the front were some of their California friends.
You can see us in the back. Starting in the green swim suit and going clockwise we have, Aaron, Me, Mckenna, Tim, Fernie, Julia, and Andrea.

When we left for the second round of volleyball, the others came back and started the fire. We ended the night by roasting hot dogs and s'mores.

When we all got home we big time crashed.
